Marcus Antonius Jansen, born 1968 in Manhattan New York City, describes his style as "Urban-Expressionism". Jansen has traveled around the world to many countries while creating a mix of old forgotten Urban graffiti elements originating from the Bronx NY, mixed with a feel of old European Expressionism from the early 1900's. Hailing from a diverse family background, Jansen grew up and studied in the United States as well as in Europe. Influenced strongly by Graffiti art in New York, Jansen managed to cross a vibrant subculture with contemporary techniques appealing to mass audience.
He has become one of the most innovative and characteristic painters of the present day. Jansen is known, in particular, for his vague abstractive presentation of urban street scenes. In 2003 Ford Motor Company honored Jansen by commissioning him to paint historic paintings for the Companies Centennial Celebration. Winn Devon Art Group ltd. in Seattle Washington has officially launched Jansens collector print releases since June 2004 on the global art market. Ask your Gallery for JANSEN if they do not carry his Posters.
