We at Murungo Ano Penga Inc. are dedicated to the promotion of fair and equal trade with the hundreds of artists from the various Tribes of Africa. Specifically Zimbabwean Shona Stone sculpture from the Shona tribe of Zimbabwe. The Shona Sculpturing is an art form that has been passed down from elder to youth for thousands of years. We have taken it upon ourselves to bring this beautiful art to a new market in order to promote the new generation of Shona artists, and help provide them with a stable income in their rapidly deteriorating economy.

Murungo Ano Penga Inc. / Murungo Gallery and our Zimbabwean partners (Murungo Imports) are dedicated to the promotion of fair and equitable trade with hundreds of artists from the tribes of Africa. Our focus is the inspirational sculptures originating from the Zimbabwean Shona People. Originating over 2,000 years ago, these remarkable vestiges of human spirit, captured forever in stone, came to world attention during the mid-1900s. Passed down from elder to youth, Shona Sculpture evolved gracefully through hundreds of generations. As an art form, it is part of the most prominent contemporary movement ever to emerge from the African continent.

We are proud to present hand-carved Shona sculptures from over 250 artists living in Zimbabwe. The range of sculptures available in our gallery and online varies from the traditional Bust and Wildlife carvings to the more abstract, modern form of art for which the Shona people are rightly world famous. Please visit our online gallery or in person in gallery on Granville Island in Vancouver for a truly great Zimbabwean welcome ??
