Marcus Antonius Jansen, born 1968 in Manhattan New York City, describes his style as "Urban-Expressionism". Hailing from a diverse family background, Jansen grew up and studied in the United States as well as in Europe. He has become one of the most innovative and characteristic painters of the present day. Jansen is known, in particular, for his vague abstractive presentation of urban street scenes. In 2003 Ford Motor Company honored Jansen by commissioning him to paint historic paintings for the Companies Centennial Celebration.
